For the experienced practitioner, acupuncture is an ongoing journey of discovery to new knowledge and skills. This course offers a unique opportunity to master 12 specific treatment patterns, rooted in both ancient wisdom and modern insights. They are based on the I Ching Ba Gua, the Unified Acupuncture Theory (UAT) and the Balance Method.
These 12 patterns are well suited for treating a variety of internal functional problems, with a special focus on anxiety and insomnia. They build on three central concepts: dynamic interactions, static interactions and the Channel code. Together, these concepts provide a comprehensive treatment method for both musculoskeletal problems and functional disorders, internal imbalances and psychological and emotional states.
What we are talking about:
The I Ching Ba Gua, a valued part of Chinese philosophy for over three millennia, is a core concept. The eight trigrams symbolize the essential principles of reality. Understanding this is essential to your TCM practice.
Developed by Jonathan Shubs, the Unified Acupuncture Theory (UAT) elegantly integrates various traditional acupuncture systems and emphasizes the crucial role of channel interactions in determining health and disease.
The Balance Method, deeply rooted in classical texts such as the I Ching (Yijing) and Nei Jing, uses a structured approach based on patterns and symmetry. It draws on the relationships described in the Ba Gua of the I Ching and other fundamental concepts of Chinese medicine.
The Channel Code serves as a guide to exploring the body’s complex energy pathways, providing insight into the meridians and the Qi that flows through them. The complex interrelationships and their profound effects on both physiological and psychological health are discussed in detail.
Course Objectives:
In this course, you will learn to recognize and apply both dynamic and static interactions. You will gain a deep understanding of the principles behind the Channel Code and how to effectively apply the Guas to individual channels. The specific symptoms and indications of each of the 12 patterns will no longer hold any secrets for you.
You will also delve into the basic paradigms behind the creation of the 12 patterns. This includes understanding the six levels of Yin and Yang, the three levels of the UAT model, and the finer points of the relationships between noon and midnight in combination with inputs and outputs.
With this knowledge in your back pocket, you will easily design treatments for each pattern, surprisingly requiring only eight needles in total. In addition, you will learn to apply the six patterns that are essential for vertical channel diagnosis, whether for pain or other meridian-related problems.
